Although Chappell Roan has just released a new single with “The Subway”, the pop star takes the time when it comes to creating a second album.
In a new one Interview with Vogue Roan revealed from the music video of “The U -Subway” that “the second project has not yet existed”. She published her debut album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” in September 2023 and has since won the Grammy for the best new artist and published three singles, including “The Subway”, “The Giver” and “Good Luck, Babe”.
“There is no album,” she said Vogue. “There is no collection of songs.”
When can the world expect a new Roan project? “It took me five years to write the first and it will probably need at least five to write the next,” she said. “I am not this kind of writer who can pump it out.”
Roan continued that she didn't think she was “making good music when I force myself to do something”.
“Sometimes I see some comments on how” she is everywhere, except in this damn studio, “she added.” Even if I was in the studio for 12 hours a day, it doesn't mean that you would get an album faster. “
“The U -Bahn”, which she debut live at GOV Ball for the first time last year, “also took an annoying time to get exactly right,” she said.
“I wasn't ready to bring it out,” said Roan about the song. “It was just too painful. I was just too angry and scared – as good as my life – to get it out.”
But now she is in a better place she said she is partly owed to social media. “Socials harm me and my art. I no longer do it myself,” she said, adding: “I have never written an album on which I don't have an Instagram or anything. The album process is only mine. Nobody on Tikok can see it.”
