Migration 'Lands January 2026 Publication of Lionsgate

“Grönland 2: Migration” released Lionsgate on January 9, 2026. After a comet strike that decimated most of the earth, the film of the Garrity family, played by Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin and Roman Griffith Davis, follows, since they are forced to leave the security of their bunker in Greenland to cross a smashed world in search of a new home.

Lionsgate's “Meuterei”, which had previously been bumped up for the position of January 9, is now moving to a release window in the summer of 2026.

Amber Rose Revah, Sophie Thompson, Trond Fausa AurvÃ¥g and William Abadie will also appear in “Greenland 2: Migration”. The film is shot by Ric Roman Waugh, written by Mitchell Lafortune and Chris Sparling, produced by Butler, Waugh, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Alan Siegel, Sébastien Raybaud, John Zois and Brendon Boyea.

The film is a continuation of the 2020 disaster film, in which Butler and Baccarin played as John and Allison Garrity – a couple with diabetic son Nathan who flees as a comet that races into earth. It was distributed by StX films and its international partners during the highlight of the Covid pandemic. The film was opened at the box office in 26 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Russia, with more than 52 million dollars being adhered to internationally. In the United States, the film delivered a strong performance at PVOD in front of a popular run on Max.

“Greenland 2: Migration” is produced by Anton, Stx Entertainment, Thunder Road Pictures and G-Base Entertainment. StX derives the international distribution through its global partner network.
