Lady Gaga and Sabrina Carpenter Lead nominations

Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar lead the nominations for this year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAS).

Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande are also among the most nominated artists for the US Award 2025.

Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, who are bound for most VMA wins with 30 winnings each, have received a nomination this year – both in the artist of the year.

None of the artists released an album last year, but both artists did blockbuster tours during this time.

Swift already considers the crown for most Moonman Trophies to be a single artist, since Beyoncé's balance sheet includes cooperation with others.

Swift was also the biggest winner of the night last year and won seven prizes, including the two best awards: artist and video of the year.

In total this year Lady Gaga received 12 nominations, Bruno Mars has 11, rapper Kendrick Lamar with 10 and espresso singer Sabrina Carpenter.

Lady Gaga's nominations include artists of the year and the best album for Mayhem. The 39-year-old is currently on tour in the USA.

Those with a smile, a collaboration between Lady Gaga and Mars, also 39, is nominated for the Song of the Year, with the musicians also performing for the best cooperation, the best pop and the best video of the year.

This year's VMAs include two new categories: best country and best pop artist.

The show will take place on September 7th in the UBS Arena in New York.

No plans for MTV Europe Music Awards have yet been published this year, although the show reports that a break is reporting.
