Hulu will replace Star as a tile for the International Disney+ Service.
This is the first major international expansion for Hulu and follows Disney, Comcast last month from the US Streamer.
When Disney's streaming business shone again in its recent results of the profit quartals, the company's executive comment revealed a “global general entertainment brand” for the third quarter, which will “replace the Star Tile on Disney+ International in the autumn”.
Disney+ currently includes Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, whereby the ESPN and star brands are available in selected areas.
“It has already been worked on to improve our technology, and in the coming months we will implement numerous improvements within the Disney+ app, including exciting new functions and a more personalized homepage,” said Disney in the Executive comment that was preceded by an analyst this morning. “All of these work peaks with the Unified Disney+ and Hulu Streaming app experiences that are available to consumers next year.”
Hulu has long been targeted as an international brand, whereby the streamer was already involved in 2009 with ITV with the British network ITV. However, this is not the event, and since then Hulu has only remained a brand for US American American. By chance, ITV and Disney+ recently started a partnership with content in which their services in Great Britain perform selected stacks of the content of the other.
Disney started Disney+ in 2019 and initiated itself in the following years. The star brand, which was widespread and known in Latin America and Asia, was called general entertainment tiles.
A few weeks ago, Disney completed the process of purchasing COMCAST participation in Hulu, Streaming Service, which began as a joint venture, and at a time four media giants as a stakeholder in 2019 as part of the 71.3 -billion dollar in the company of the 21st century.
In the United States, Hulu programming was steadily integrated into the Disney+ flagship because the almost 20-year-old streaming outlet is ultimately included in Disney+. The CEO of Disney, Bob Iger and CFO Hugh Johnson, in the comments that were published on Wednesday before the company's profit call with the Wall Street analysts, said Hulu was fully integrated into Disney+. They called it a “big step forward” that “creates an impressive entertainment package”.
What is not yet clear is whether Hulu remains an independent app after the integration has been completed.
