Emma Thompson has redesigned a story about a phone call she received from President Donald Trump years ago.
During the visit to the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland to get the Leopard Club Award in Thompson Reports I spoke about the day around 1997 when she said that a private citizen Trump then asked her about a date.
Thompson said that she made the film “Primary Colors” at that time, a film based on Joe Klein's novel that Fictalized President Bill Clinton's rise. The phone in her trailer rang in front of the set, she remembered and “it was Donald Trump”.
“I thought it was a joke and asked: 'How can I help you?' Maybe he needed instructions from someone, ”Thompson told the crowd.
Then he said, 'I would love it if you stay in one of my beautiful places. Maybe we could eat in the evening, '”Thompson continued.” I said:' Well, that's very cute. Thank you. I'll get in touch with you. '”
The star “Love” said she later noticed which day it was.
“I realized that my divorce decree was going through that day,” she said. “I bet he has people looking for a nice divorce to switch off his arm.”
Thompson had a long divorce from her first husband, actor Kenneth Branagh.
The story is one that Thompson had previously shared.
