Malibu, California – – – An 11-year-old girl took up a mountain lion in front of her family's house in Malibu, California, and wounded her and then chased her mother before it was startled, the authorities announced on Monday.
The girl was near a chicken building on the property on Sunday evening when the Cougar attacked her from behind and, according to Peter Tira, spokesman for the California Ministry for Fish and Wildlife spokesman for the California, on her arm, leg and lower back.
The young victim was treated in a hospital for minor injuries, said Tira.
During the attack, the girl's mother heard her child's screams and ran over with one of the girls' siblings.
“Then the mountain lion followed the mother and the siblings,” said Tira the Los Angeles Times.
Another family member had an electropistol and the sound of the weapon frightened the big cat, said Tira.
Wildlife officers later found a mountain lion in the area and stuffed. DNA tests confirm whether it is the same animal that the girl bitten.
Berglöwen rarely attack people. There have been 27 confirmed attacks on people since 1986, although most are not fatal, according to state fish and wildlife data.
